The Ashland Solar Cooperative (ASC) was started by volunteer community members who care deeply about social equity, affordability, climate change, and the natural environment. Our purpose is to join people in community together to take charge of our own clean energy future.

  • Jim Hartman (Board President): Jim recently retired from Ashland High School where he taught environmental science for 27 years. He was on the Ad hoc Committee to develop Ashland’s Climate & Energy Action Plan (Adopted 2017). Jim is the main facilitator of board meetings.
  • Tomas Endicott (Board Member & Secretary): Tomas has been working to make community solar happen in Ashland for 5 years. He works for Bonneville Environmental Foundation and is allowed to devote 10% of his time toward ASC. Tomas recently developed the 200 kW DC array at Oak Street Tank & Steel.
  • Pete Jorgensen (Board Member & Treasurer): Retired civil engineer with experience in construction management. Pete has worked extensively with our organizational model, lease development, financial model and fractional owner contract.
  • Bryan Sohl (Board Member):  Retired physician who has lived in Ashland since 1988.  He currently serves on the City of Ashland Conservation and Climate Outreach Commission.  He was on the Ad-Hoc committed that created the Ashland Climate and Energy Plan (Adopted 2017).
  • Marni Koopman (Board Member): Climate Change Scientist who was on the Ad hoc Committee to develop Ashland’s Climate & Energy Action Plan.  Marni was previously Chair of the City’s Climate Outreach and Conservation Commission.

  • Mike Wright (Volunteer):  Former financial executive at consumer products businesses before transitioning to a second career in public education in a non-teaching capacity.
  • David Spinney (Volunteer): Web Developer with over 25 years of experience who also leads workshops about reversing the climate crisis.
  • Lorrie Kaplan (Advisor):  Former CEO of the American College of Nurse-Midwives in Washington, DC, who wrote our 33 page identity report pro bono which summarized the state of our organization in January 2021. Lorrie is currently the President of the Ashland Climate Collaborative.
  • Brad Roupp (Advisor & past board president): Brad has worked to make community solar happen in Ashland for 2 years. He also financed the 6 STrackers at Science work and was one of the first to utilize the City’s Virtual Net Metering (VNM) Program.
